School is Near

This is my first blog for the holidays. I've been too relaxed into my holidays that I haven't been blogging. So here's a little summary about how my holidays were going.

The holidays are almost over. I had a fun and exciting holiday. Other than that I started to miss learning and school. It was a weird feeling because I usually don't like school, but I think I just missed my friends really. Well can't wait till the first day of school to see what class i'm in.

  1. Hi Davarni,

It's great to see that you've decided to post a blog this summer. That's awesome!

It sounds like you are getting really excited about school starting up again in a few weeks. I wonder who your teacher will be this year...

If you're looking for something fun to do while you wait for school to start again, feel free to join our Summer Learning Journey programme. You can learn some cool things about the world and connect with students both here in New Zealand and overseas. You can also earn points for each blog that you post and get a certificate and an online badge for your blog site. I will be bringing the certificates to Glenbrae and handing them out at assembly early in Term 1.

If you'd like to join us, please hop onto the Summer Learning Journey website (https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/welcome) and click on the 'Weekly Activities' tab. You will find 60 different activities to choose from. We have divided them into 4 weeks (15 activities per week). You can do any activity in any order that you want to!

I'll check your blog site regularly, read your posts and comment on them.

I hope that you'll join us!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)

  5. Kia ora Davarni!

I'm Mark, a teacher working with Rachel on the Summer Learning Journey.

We have 8 days left on the SLJ and I just thought I would let you know that you can still join in anytime! It is never too late. Plus if you're running out of things to do, this is definitely an interesting and worthwhile way to spend your time.

The point of the journey is to keep your mind sharp for when school starts by making you use all the skills you developed last year. The activities are designed to be interesting and are only as hard as you want to make them.

At this point in the journey, you don't even have to do all the activities, or even do them in order! You can just pick and choose. Everything is cool as long as you're getting that brain up to speed.

I hope to see you online soon and blasting through some of these activities. If you don't know where to find them, then just follow the link below. Remember to post the answers on your blog-site and label them with their day and activity number.

If you decide not to however, it is all good! I hope you have been doing your own reading and writing over the holiday period anyway, and I wish you all the very best for the 2017 year at school!

Kia kaha, never give up and always do your best!

    Mark
