WK4 SLJ - Activity 1,2 & 3 (D4)

Activity 1: Your future self

It may be hard to imagine, but one day you will graduate from high school and it will be time to decide what to do next. You may want to study at university, become an apprentice, go to training college, travel, or start working. There are so many options!

Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!

When I graduate from college my ideal choice would be to study at university. At university I would want to study Creative Writing in order to fulfill my dream of becoming a writer.
If I succed in getting my bachelors and masters degree, I would then start writing poems and short novels. I would start small and begin to build on it day by day. And once the right day comes i'll be in a writing career earning money and traveling the world! Being reconized in other countries would be my ultimate goal, but I don't want to have high hopes for my future. Things can always go wrong.

Activity 2: Flying Cars

Let’s imagine that you’ve just learned to drive, and your family has decided to buy you a brand new car. You are allowed to choose from any of the following designs:

flying car (2).jpg
On your blog please tell us which of the three cars you would choose and why.

I would choose the Hummer Car (picture 2) because it looks very tough and sturdy.
It is also very similiar to my dream car (Jeep). Another reason why I chose that car is because the other choices were to flashy. Picture 1 looks unique but old fashioned and Picture 2 looks cool but too futuristic.

Activity 3: Blade Runner 2049

There is a new movie out in cinemas at the moment called Blade Runner 2049.
blade runner.jpg
It is a movie about what the world will be like in the future. Imagine that you able to travel through time and that you can see what the world will look like in 2099.

On your blog write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 – 90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat? Where will they work?

Year 2099 - New Zealand

Nearly on every street will there be a luxurios home. A pool in the front yard, a two story yet wide building and a great interior. How could anyone not want to live in a home like this? It even has a great amount of space for the whole family to play in.

From disgusting to delcious is how you would describe food in year 2099.
Peculiar chefs knew just how to catch people's attention.
And that of course leaves us with exotic eye catching food.
Once you bite or slurp into any food or bevarage, nothing but fasination will be seen in your eyes.
It looks amazingly appitzing to eat but really it's awful to digest, until a few seconds the taste changes to a tasty party in your mouth. Expect to see many more extraordinary ideas from chefs.
You'll be blown away!

It'll be a rare occasion to see someone without a job.
Nearly everyone and anyone will have a something to do.
Why? Because they don't need jobs. Robots will be there to take care of everything.
All though there will be some people who will have to look after the robots.

  6. Kia Ora Davarni,

Cadence here from the Summer Learning Journey!

Activity 1: Wow, firstly, it brought the biggest smile to my face reading that you would like to become a writer. You would be a brilliant one! Keep working hard and you will get there!

Activity 2: Great word to use! “Sturdy” Indeed it does. Very fancy compared to my car. Jeeps are pretty cool cars. I wouldn’t mind one of those myself actually 😊

Activity 3: You have done an incredible job at completing this task! Ka pai! I love the idea of beautiful homes, the photo looks so modern! Very nice!
I’m curious about the food. Will this be a new kind of food grown or our minds think it’s nice food? Very creative Davarni!
Robots working for us sound good too! I wonder what looking after a robot would be like?

Fantastic work! You are a star.

    Cadence 😊

  7. Hi Davarni!

You will be an amazing writer, if your SLJ blog posts are anything to go by :) Yes, things can go wrong, but that's just part of life and won't stop you from achieving what you want to. I had a couple things go wrong throughout my degree over the last few years that should've stopped me, but I didn't let it stop me from finishing and getting the job I wanted. So keep persevering and working on your writing skills! I look forward to reading some of your work some day!

I agree with you - the second car is my favourite too. I would love to own a Jeep one day. I actually know the CEO of Jeep New Zealand and look after his kids often. He gets to take home a new Jeep every time a new one comes out, so when I go around to their house, there is a cool new Jeep sitting in the driveway - so cool!
What kind of Jeep is your dream car?

I love how you have posted pictures with comparisons of 2018 to 2099. Your ideas are very creative and thoughtful! Great work on these, Davarni!

Once again, congratulations on finishing the programme and thank you for your kind words to our team! We have really enjoyed supporting your wonderful blogging work.

    Nicky :)
